Paul
is the Chief Executive and Accounting Officer of Delta Academies Trust and a
National Leader of Education. Paul took up post in February 2016, at the
then failing SPTA Trust. Delta sponsors
51 academies - 15 secondary, 33 primary, one all-through, two Alternative
Provision. - in the East Midlands and Humber, Lancashire West Yorkshire and
Tees Valley regions. Delta is designated as a system sponsor. In
February 2016 the Trust had a projected deficit for 2017/18 of £8.6m. As
a result of the simultaneous formal restructure of 8 secondary academies and
soft restructure of the others. The
actual out-turn for 17/18 was £1m surplus. The Trust has made very rapid
improvements and is now recognised nationally as one of the top three very high
performing large sponsors. In 2019-20,
the trust moved an additional £5.7m from revenue to capital and yet still had a
very large surplus. The trust is
building its own residential environmental centre and a multi-million-pound CPD
conference centre as a contribution to the region from its own finances. ICFP is the key to its financial
success.
