James is the CEO of Ambition School Leadership/Institute for Teaching, a charity with the single purpose of helping educators to keep getting better. Prior to this he was CEO of Ambition School Leadership, leading the organisation through the merger of The Future Leaders Trust and Teaching Leaders. He also served as the CEO of Teaching Leaders for 8 years. He started his career as a French teacher in the inaugural Teach First cohort, and joined Teaching Leaders following three years as a management consultant. He is currently Chair of Governors at STEP Academy Trust and previously served as Chair of Governors at St Mark’s Church of England Academy.
