Dominic Herrington

Dominic Herrington is the interim National Schools Commissioner (NSC), having taken over the role from Sir David Carter. He came into position on 1 September 2018. Prior to his appointment, Dominic was the full-time Regional Schools Commissioner (RSC) for SE England and South London, a role which he continues to oversee. Dominic started his working life as a TEFL teacher in Spain. He then went on to work at Warwick and Birmingham Universities before joining the Department for Education (DfE) where he has held a variety of roles. In addition to his responsibilities as RSC and NSC, he is also a Vice Chair of Governors at a primary school. Dominic is passionate about raising education standards for children and young people and making a positive difference in the education system to help improve children’s life chances. He lives with his family in South London.
